    Job Summary

    The Outpatient Neurology Charge Nurse provides clinical leadership and operational oversight for a fast-paced neurology outpatient practice. This role coordinates daily clinic flow, supports high-quality patient care, and serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff while collaborating closely with neurologists, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams. The Charge Nurse ensures safe, efficient, and patient-centered care delivery while promoting evidence-based neurological practices and regulatory compliance.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and supervision of outpatient neurology nursing staff and support personnel.
    • Coordinate patient flow, staffing assignments, and clinic operations to ensure timely, efficient care delivery.
    • Serve as a clinical expert in neurological conditions, treatments, and procedures, including seizure disorders, stroke follow-up, neuromuscular diseases, headaches, and neurodegenerative conditions.
    • Support and reinforce evidence-based nursing practice, patient safety standards, and quality improvement initiatives.
    • Act as a liaison between providers, nursing staff, and administrative teams to resolve clinical or operational issues.
    • Oversee patient education related to neurological diagnoses, medications, diagnostic testing, and care plans.
    • Ensure accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and adherence to organizational policies and outpatient care standards.
    • Assist with onboarding, mentoring, and competency development of nursing staff.
    • Participate in performance improvement activities, data tracking, and clinic workflow optimization.
    • Provide direct patient care as needed, including triage, assessment, and coordination of follow-up care.
    Requirements:
    • Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program. Must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program within three years of assuming the Charge RN position.
    • Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Relevant certification as determined at position level.

      Minimum Experience: 1 year of nursing experience.
    • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
