Position Overview:
edX is looking for an experienced software engineer to join our Solutions team.
The Solutions team builds technology and features for edX's Open Source learning platform on behalf of edX partners and clients.
The Solutions team works with leading commercial brands, large NGOs/non-profits, and country-scale initiatives throughout the world.We are a small team with a get-it-done attitude and lean culture who are committed to building open-source software that scales and dramatically changes the face of education.
Our ideal candidates are hands on developers who understand how to build scalable, service based systems, preferably in Python and have a proven track record of bringing their ideas to market.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with partners to design, develop, deploy, and support scalable software products.
Delight edX partners by delivering small, medium, and large projects in full and on-time.
Work collaboratively with teammates and leadership on projects.
Provide technical direction to a small team of engineers.
Understand and leverage key aspects of building operationally viable solutions.
Interface with partners (clients) and 3rd parties.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
REQUIRED:
Real-world experience with Python or other dynamic development languages.
Track record of successfully delivering customer-facing projects.
Demonstrated teamwork experience.
Able to code front to back, including HTML, CSS, Javascript, Django, Python.
Experience with modern technologies such as D3, Bootstrap, Backbone, and RequireJS.
Demonstrated skills in building service based architecture driven development.
Committed to documentation of best practices so your code can be consumed in an open source environment.
PREFERRED:
Previous experience working directly with clients.
BS in Computer Science or related field of study.
Contributor to or consumer of Open Source frameworks.
Supervision Received:
This is an individual contributor role where a high degree of self-direction is required.

This role may deal with confidential information and/or issues requiring discretion and judgment.
