    The Scrum Master/Portfolio Manager has the primary responsibilities of ensuring the effective application of Agile practices and management of the Architecture & Innovation (A&I) portfolio.

    This leader will facilitate the learning and growth of A&I's teams in developing a Lean-Agile mindset, improving practices, and guiding them to more predictable delivery.

    This leader plays a role in facilitating Agile ceremonies, planning of releases, removing impediments, providing guidance, and supporting the teams, as well as modeling and promoting Agile values and principles.

    The successful candidate will be experienced maturing portfolio management processes including, demand and resource management, with integrations into the IT partner teams' PI planning sessions.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities(Key Activities)


    • Partners with portfolio managers and product owners across the enterprise to refine A&I's deliverable expectations.
    • A servant leader who enables teams to self-organize, self-manage, and deliver via effective Lean-Agile practices.
    • Facilitates all sprint ceremonies within the Scrum FrameworkDaily Stand Up, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Backlog Refinement, Mid-Sprint Review, and Retrospectives.
    • Ensure team understands the purpose and principles to all Scrum ceremonies, ensuring team is value focused throughout each iteration.
    • Acts as a change agent to support continuous improvement of the team and optimize delivery.
    • Develops and implements continuous improvement plans. Challenges the "norm" and develops and executes improvement plans in the areas of quality, predictability, and flow.
    • Leads, guides, influences, and acts as a role model, exemplifying Scrum, XP, and/or Kanban principles.
    • Partners with the delivery manager, technical lead, or other stakeholders to understand and advocate for achieving technical best practices.
    • Collaborates with Global Technology project managers and product owners on feature-based financials (estimates and spend detail).
    • May support cross-team dependency identification, tracking and resolution.
    • Works with the product owners on a continual basis to refine and prioritize backlog.
    • If a part of an Agile Release Train (ART), participates and significantly contributes to ceremonies, such as Agile Release Train Synch, Scrum Master sync, and PI planning.
    • Utilizes Rally, Clarity, or other IHG approved delivery tool to establish standards and guidelines for the A&I team

    Required Skills & Experience

    Education

    Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

    Experience


    • Typically, a minimum of 5+ years of progressive work-related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines, technologies, or processes related to the position.
    • Typically, a minimum of 3+ years performing the role of a Portfolio Manager.
    • Typically, a minimum of 1+ years performing the role of a Scrum Master.
    • Experience working with and facilitating interactions with distributed agile teams.
    • Formal coaching experience is preferred.
    Technical Skills and Knowledge


    • Knowledge about Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Kanban and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
    • Ability to support and guide teams to achieve sprint and release goals.
    • Aptitude of effectively facilitating team-level discussions and resolving conflict within and across teams.
    • Knowledge of Agile values, principles, and engineering practices.
    • Knowledge of and proficiency with CA Agile Central (Rally) or similar tool.
    • Strong communications skills with the ability to develop positive working relationships with different stakeholders.
    • Ability to effectively facilitate and resolve conflicts within small to medium sized group or team level discussions (typically, 2-3 teams or 20+ person size groups)
    • Ability to mentor other Scrum Masters and create a community of practice.
    • Desire and appetite to improve your craft within the Agile community and bring those best practices to your team and the IHG Agile community.
    Decision making responsibilities (Key Decisions Rights)

    Responsible for managing and coordinating assigned projects to successful completion including adhering to project deliverables, managing project scope changes, project budget and time or resource constraints.
