About Second Family Nursing Services
Second Family Nursing Services (SFNS) provides compassionate, person-centered care to individuals who need support to live safely and comfortably in their homes and communities. Our team is dedicated to enhancing quality of life through respect, dignity, and individualized attention.
Position Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides hands-on support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities, medical needs, or daily living assistance. This role is key in promoting independence, ensuring safety, and fostering meaningful connections.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and supervision to individuals in their home or community settings
- Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, medication reminders, and mobility support
- Encourage and support individual goals to build independence and life skills
- Implement care plans and follow instructions from nursing staff or supervisors
- Maintain a safe, clean, and positive environment
- Document services provided and report any changes in condition or concerns to the care team
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to ensure high-quality care
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in caregiving, home health, or direct support preferred but not required (training provided)
- Ability to lift, transfer, or assist individuals as needed
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license (if required by assignment)
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient demeanor
Schedule and Location
- Flexible shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and overnights
