  • What to Expect?

    The Chemical Specialist manages and directs chemical sales efforts within the respective territory to achieve market share gains. This position serves as an expert in selling chemicals and representing POOLCORP chemical brands. In addition, the Chemical Specialist identifies customers to profitably grow their businesses and provides education and support on chemical products and technology.

    On a daily basis our Chemical Specialist:

  • Identifies target accounts within market served and is lead account manager for all chemical targets.
  • Works with outside sales reps (BDR's), Branch and Regional Managers to grow the branch business through new chemical product development, new customer and market development, and teamwork with employees, vendors and customers.
  • Identifies and qualifies all potential chemical accounts in territory.
  • Identifies new customer and development opportunities for current and potential chemical related products (including non-traditional channels).
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders.
  • Meets with defined and new business accounts as needed to identify customer needs.
  • Conducts presentations to customers on chemical products and programs.
  • Provides Pool360 Water Test training and support, marketing program support, and chemical training as needed to store employees and consumers.
  • Researches and analyzes market to stay aware of competitive situations. Gathers competitive information and other market information regularly while interacting cooperatively with other members of the distribution team.
  • Provides input to manage margins to provide proper profit levels for different product groups for both dealer and POOLCORP.
  • Stays current on general industry trends and chemical products technology.
  • Maintains a strong relationship with field representatives of relevant product vendors.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
  • What You Will Need:

  • 3+ years of experience developing relationships with chemical customers.
  • Solid knowledge of pool products and chemicals.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with proven ability to convert customers to a new product line.
  • Familiarity with technology tools such as AMP or similar customer management system preferred.
  • Travel will be expected to cover entire territory to call on targeted customers and see existing customers with appropriate frequency of visits.
  • Holds a valid driver's license, a "satisfactory" driving record (no more than 2 violations within 3 years).
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
