    THRIFT STORE CASHIER POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the supervision of the Thrift Store Manager, the cashier is to deliver excellent customer service by entering purchases into the cash register, accepting payments, answering customer questions, and assisting customers with locating specific items.

    THRIFT STORE CASHIER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Count cash in drawer at the start of the shift and process/check out transactions.
    • Wrap and/or bag purchases and keep displays neat & full of merchandise.
    • Be alert for shoplifters and price tampering.
    • Communicate regularly with management about store issues & assist other departments, as needed.
    • Actively engage customers on floor sales to increase donations and merchandise sales to ensure monthly revenue goals are met while responding to customer inquiries/complaints.
    • Maintains safety including all Health and Security policies and procedures.
    • Conducts tasks and other projects as assigned by the Store Manager.
    • Commitment to URM mission, vision, and core values.
    • Encourages guests in their faith and growth in Jesus Christ.

    THRIFT STORE CASHIER PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
    • Requires regular standing, walking, sitting, crouching, stooping, speaking, hearing, and seeing.
    • Requires manual dexterity for regular repetitive finger motion such as frequent reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting objects and operating equipment.
    • May be exposed to handling hazardous materials such as broken glass.

    THRIFT STORE CASHIER WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    In general, the following conditions of the work environment are representative of those that an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.     • The office is clean, orderly, properly lit, and ventilated.
    • Noise levels are considered low to moderate.
    • This position works predominantly indoors in a store, warehouse, or dock environment all of which are high traffic settings involving people, equipment and/or machinery.
    Requirements:

    THRIFT STORE CASHIER EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES:

    • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
    • No experience required.

    THRIFT STORE CASHIER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Clear communication skills, both written and oral.
    • Fluency in Spanish, both verbal and written, preferred.
    • Excellent basic math skills
    • Must have a strong work ethic and be able to work at a fast pace.
    • Must be detail oriented, have strong customer service and organizational skills.
    • Must have strong time management skills.
    • Ability to multi-task in a high-volume environment.
    • Must be an effective team member.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
