- Teach five (5) sections of English. Classes meet five out of every seven days. Courses will be planned and taught in collaboration with 1-2 other teachers.
- Provide academic support for students outside of class time as needed (during meeting time, before or after school).
- Collaborate with members of the Upper School English department to align lesson plans and curriculum.
- Submit grades quarterly and academic narrative comments three times a year.
- After the first year, serve as an advisor to 10-12 students (provide academic and emotional support, communicate regularly with parents/guardians, host in-person conferences twice a year).
- Engage in the co-curricular life of the school by overseeing a student club/service-related organization, based on needs of the student life program. Athletic coaches receive additional stipends.
- After the first year, develop an experiential Spring Unit course with colleagues.
- Participate in divisional, departmental, committee, and grade-team meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Division Director. Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master's degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience teaching at the Upper School level
- Current certification in AP English Language and Composition
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the secondary level
- Experience instructing a diverse student population
- Demonstrated understanding of cultural competency and full commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion work
- Willingness to broaden facility with classroom technology
- Enthusiasm for ongoing professional growth and membership in a community of learners
