    This position is located with the BLM Fire & Aviation Directorate, National Interagency Coordination Center located at the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), in Boise, Idaho.

    Responsibilities Independently plans, organizes and coordinates total mobilization of wildfire and emergency response resources in advance of and during emergency incident activity, setting national priorities.

    First level decision maker for all requests received, regardless of agencies involved. Implements requests for assistance, cognizant of cost and ensures the disposition of resources is consistent with Directorate decisions. Monitors and reviews daily fire weather forecasts, probable risk and fire danger.

    Serves as the focal point for assigned functional area (i.e.; aircraft, overhead, crews, equipment) ensures that desk operations comply with appropriate contract specifications and agency policies.

    Responsible for development of assigned portion of the National Interagency Mobilization Guide, which serves as policy direction and guidance to all federal wildland agencies for resource and intelligence coordination.

    Travels to field offices to organize and manage coordination operations for major incident activity. Responsible for development of assigned portions of the NICC operations guide. Must be available to take 24 hour on-call duties at least one week per month.

    To qualify for the GS-11 grade level: For current or prior federal employees: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 is required.
