    Job Overview

    This is a Direct Hire position offering benefits from day one, including 11 paid holidays, 2-3 weeks' vacation, 401K, and almost 100% coverage.

     

    Target Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year

    Bonus/Incentives/Stock Options: Up to 15%

     

    Job Summary

    The Design Engineer will perform various design activities for the Engineering group, preparing and updating designs and drawings for projects, assemblies, and manufacturing using 3D design software (Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD).

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design special trackwork for major customers, developing detailed drawings of special railroad track components and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor 3D software and occasionally AutoCAD 2D software.
    • Analyze and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and purchase orders.
    • Create project bills of material leveraging the ERP system (Infor LN).
    • Utilize Microsoft Excel and Word to create and maintain department-related spreadsheets and documents, including but not limited to Engineering Change Notices, calculations, project status updates, and reports.
    • Initiate and/or support continuous improvement projects within the department and the company as a whole.

     

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering. An Associate's degree in a related engineering field or equivalent combination of formal education and direct work experience may also be considered.
    • Able to efficiently operate 2D and 3D CAD, Microsoft Office software, and Adobe Acrobat.
    • Possess Geometry and Trigonometry math skills.
    • Able to use gauges, tape measures, calipers, etc.
    • Experience working with standards (ANSI, SAE, AREMA, etc.) is a plus.
    • General knowledge of metals, including strength of steel and iron materials, patterns, and castings; welding is a plus.
