    Position Summary:

    Responsible for supervisory duties regarding assigned staff. Oversees the technical operation of the department. Ensures quality control is performed daily, according to procedure. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, counseling, and firing employees. Complies with requests from pathologist and Lab director. Maintains the Pathology department in inspection ready condition at all times. Creates a positive work environment for patients and staff. As authorized by the Medical Director of the Laboratory, this position is designated to perform the bi-annual review of procedure manuals and monthly review of quality control, maintenance and function checks.

    Essential Functions:

    Supervises collection of all specimens

    Collects patient's specimens

    Performs Point of Care (POC) PT/INR testing.

    Administrative clerical duties

    Assures quality care/service to patients

    Assures all new phlebotomists are trained properly

    Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures

    Reports to: Director of Laboratory


    Minimum Education
    High School Diploma - Required.
    Completion of a histotechnology course or equivalent experience

    Required Skills
    Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

    Required Licenses
    [West Virginia, United States] Other
    Certified as Phlebotomy Technician preferred.

    Minimum Work Experience
    Three years experience as a phlebotomist is preferred.
