    GENERAL SUMMARY


    Works under the supervision of the Manager of Nuclear Medicine, and in collaboration with the Supervisor of Breast Center for MBI services.

    The Nuclear Medicine Tech performs a variety of examinations utilizing Nuclear Medicine equipment and materials. Responsible for scheduling and preparing patients for examinations and preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals. Technologist will perform Nuclear Medicine exams accurately while utilizing Nuclear Medicine Gamma Cameras. Responsible for Ohio Department of Health and Ohio Administrative Code rules and regulations pertaining to Nuclear Medicine. Maintain ACR accreditation.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:

    • Graduate of an Approved Accredited Nuclear Medicine program, and/or
    • Graduate of an Approved Accredited Radiology program required

    Licensure:

    • ARRT(N) and/or CNMT required
    • Ohio(N) required
    • BLS certification within 90 day introductory period required

    Experience:

    • No prior experience necessary.

    JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
    The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.


    • Utilizes AIDET to identify, greet, explain procedure and prepare patient for their procedure.
    • Assess provider's written order, performs Nuclear Medicine procedures according to established standards.
    • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals.
    • Assembles accurate and complete patient history and enters appropriate forms in Radiology Information System for radiologist.
    • Performs calibrations, quality control, quality assurance, adjustments as needed on all NM equipment.
    • Maintains clean work area and equipment, maintains par level supply of stock
    • Works with Central Scheduling, provider's offices and nursing floors to schedule patients.
    • Adheres to established Ohio Department of Health guidelines for the safe handling of radioactive materials.
    • Performs intermediate-level disinfection and/ or high level disinfection per the Instructions for Use (IFU) by the manufacture. This includes ensuring the scopes or probes used within the department are cleaned, disinfected, maintained and stored per the IFU's
    • Performs other duties as assigned
