    Description

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MQ-9 UAS Pilot Instructor-Team Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will lead a team of Instructors who provide the training and mentoring of new and experienced pilots in the operation and tactical deployment of the MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aircraft system.

    Location: MCAS Cherry Point, Havelock, NC

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead and supervise a team of MQ-9 UAS Pilot Instructors, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the delivery of high-quality training programs.
    • Serve as the individual receiving priorities and tasking the team to complete the priorities. The Team Lead is also responsible for communicating any feedback or requirements back to the Squadron Operations Officer (OPSO) and/or COR for the overall completion of work.
    • Develop and oversee the implementation of training curriculum covering aircraft systems, mission planning, tactical operations, and emergency procedures.
    • Conduct training needs assessments and coordinate training schedules to meet organizational requirements and client expectations.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for client engagements, liaising with stakeholders to understand training objectives and customize programs accordingly.
    • Monitor and evaluate instructor performance and student progress, providing feedback and coaching as needed to maintain standards of excellence.
    • Collaborate with instructional staff and subject matter experts to continuously improve training materials, methodologies, and course content.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UAS training and education.
    • Be familiar with the Marine-Sierra Hotel Aviation Readiness Program (M-SHARP) and ensure all aircrew supporting this TO are properly added, tracked, and scheduled appropriately.
    • Ensure all Naval Aircraft Flight Records (NAVFLIRs) OPNAV 3710/4 forms are completed after every flight and simulator event for aircrew supporting this TO.
    • Ensure Aviation Training Forms (ATFs) are completed by instructors supporting this TO for every training event conducted.

    Qualifications:

    • BA/BS from accredited college or university in a relevant field (e.g., aerospace engineering, aviation technology) preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience as an MQ-9 UAS pilot, with a demonstrated record of operational excellence.
    • Prior MQ-9 pilot training, specifically the USAF MQ-9 Pilot Initial Qualification Training course (IQT), USMC MQ-9 Pilot Training Course at VMUT-2, or industry equivalent MQ-9 Pilot Training Course (General Atomics-ASI, L3-Harris, Albers, etc.).
    • Valid FAA First or Second-Class Airman Medical Certificate, or a current DD Form 2992 at the GFR's discretion, reflecting the individual is medically cleared for flight duty.
    • No less than 550 Pilot in Command (PIC) hours in MQ-9 aircraft (up to 50% of that MQ-9 flight time can be conducted in simulator) and no less than 25 hours of MQ-9 instructor time.
    • Mission Command Element (MCE) and Launch and Recovery Element (LRE) aircrew qualified
    • Familiarity with MCE and LRE instruction and able to teach students in both areas
    • Active SECRET security clearance
    • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably in a training or educational setting.
    • Strong understanding of aviation principles, UAS technology, and military operational concepts.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of instructors.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness to travel occasionally for training assignments and client engagements.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.
    • Must be able to pass fit for work physical and/or drug test as required.
    • Must be able to work in areas that require awkward posturing, bending, kneeling, squatting, to include working overhead.
