    Title:
    Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician 3 / System Administrator 2 Location: Brook Army Medical Center (San Antonio, TX)

    Education:
    Graduate of a military BMET Course or a higher education degree from an accredited college in BMET or Engineering with additional coursework in IT

    Clearance:
    Public Trust Clearance or above preferred
    A Public Trust Clearance is not required day one but will be processed and therefore must be a US Citizen able to obtain a clearance

    Certification:
    CompTIA Security+ CE Summary: The Association for the Advancement Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards for BMETs and levels of qualifications shall be applied to this position
    Provide expert-level experience in the repair, calibrate, and maintenance of all types of clinical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and complex systems
    Inspect, install, repair, prepare for disposition, and provide SPM of MDE
    Perform DoD cyber-security
    This position requires a skillset of a mid-level Systems Administrator capable of ensuring systems are engineered, configured, and optimized for maximum functionality and availability
    Lead hardware/software installations; oversee server upgrade/expansion project, terminal services and network performance; and integrated new technologies into existing data-center environments
    Troubleshoots complex network performance and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan
    Recommends software and hardware upgrades, patches, and new applications on MDE and related information systems
    Provides MDE and IT technical support and guidance to users
    Builds and manages system development lifecycle (i.e
    Certificate of Net worthiness, RMF) for MDE that require network certification and/or accreditation
    Knowledge of commonly used MDE and IT concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical field
    Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
    Duties include all items listed under BMET II/SA I, to additionally include
    Serves as the SME for MDE and IT in three (3) or more of the following modalities: Healthcare Imaging (Radiology), Laboratory, Sterilization, Patient Monitoring, Operating Room Services, Dental, Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, Scopes, Pulmonary, Anesthesia, Veterinary, and High-End Electronics, Information Technology (IT), Networks, RMF, RFID, ATO, Servers, and Systems
    Assign routine SPM, repairs, inspections, dispositions, and installations to CPs and observe their performance
    Provides mentorship, guidance, and assistance to other BMETs, BES and clinical staff on safe use, application, testing, and SPM and repair of all types of clinical equipment technologies and systems
    Recommend new equipment and testing procedures
    Address cybersecurity vulnerabilities, analysis, inspection, and testing

    Requirements:
    Graduate of a military BMET Course or a higher education degree from an accredited college in BMET or Engineering with additional coursework in IT
    Eight (8) years experience in the repair and maintenance of MDE and IT systems
    Must have DoD IAT Level II certification (DoDI 8570 is going to be DoDI 8140)

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
    Extensive knowledge and ability to apply electronic circuitry and technical aspects of the operation, repair and maintenance of electronic equipment
    Repair electronic, pneumatic, electro-mechanical and mechanical medical to include troubleshooting, identifying source of problem(s), replacement of defective printed circuit board(s), discrete component(s), or other parts as appropriate
    Extensive knowledge of systems interface and local area network issues are significant and not defined/discussed in manufacturer literature
    Extensive knowledge of the application and repair of computers and servers and how they interface with medical equipment
    Extensive knowledge of IT standards and IMD conventions as they relate to design approaches, coordination requirements, and documentation
    Extensive knowledge of established IT systems security techniques and procedures to ensure that requirements related to physical, personnel, emanations, and information security is accomplished

    Extensive knowledge of Information Assurance performance management/measurement methods, tools, techniques, system security testing, and evaluation principles in order to participate in IA audits and HIPAA security assessments tools.
