    Generac is seeking a staff systems engineer to contribute to Generac's home standby battery systems.     Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Take accountability for discipline/product boundary challenges and defines solutions in electrical/mechanical/firmware domains. Such as, system I/O, CAN database architecture, power up/down sequencing, fault and fault recovery sequencing, firmware state diagram definition, and industry compliance (UL 1547, 1741, 9540)
    • Define systems diagrams and integration at a multi-discipline level (electrical/mechanical/firmware/software) to create a cohesive/integrated home battery storage ecosystem
    • Gather requirements from compliance, product owners, executives, and engineering teams and drive full ecosystem definition.
    • Strong aptitude for testing/validation and identifying product gaps. Holds themselves and teams to excellent quality standards. Delivers DVP&R, DFMEA, DFM, and DFT requirements
    • Able to dive into any engineering domain to understand problems quickly and come to solutions in the right discipline area.
    • Breaks down silos between teams to create the best integrated product.
    • Organize complicated information and form requirements that consider the full system and all engineering teams.
    • Is the engineering product leader that understands the 'big picture' and drives answers to open-ended questions for the team.
    • Shares information quickly and knows all the stakeholders on a program. Communicates effectively and articulates problems/solutions with precision.
    • Bias for action and completing work. Leads effective meetings and drives decision making. Comfortable challenging engineering decisions cross-functionally.

    Minimal Qualifications:

    • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability.
    • 5+ years of system design experience on (1M+) volume products and 3+ years in an architect or technical product owner role.
    • Demonstrated excellence in communication
    • Product architect experience in electrical or firmware engineering.
    • Proficient in DFMEA, test plans (DVP&R, DOE), and system definition/integration (Visio, )
    • Experience in PCB engineering such as fabrication and assembly technologies, strain/stress analysis, thermal management, and connector/cable engineering
    • Experience in firmware engineering such as source code control, regressions systems, over-the-air release management, threading and buffers, GPIO/pin definition, and state diagrams
    • Understanding of mechanical engineering physics such as boundary/force diagrams, stress/strain, 1D thermodynamics, and basic manufacturing techniques (CNC, molding, laser cutting, and 3D printing)
    • Knowledge of UL/IEEE/NFPA/ANSI standards stemming from NFPA 70 and related to ESS
