    Head Start/Early Head Start programs are currently seeking a Family Engagement Specialist to play a crucial role in fostering strong partnerships between families, institutions, and communities to support the well-being and success of individuals, particularly children.

    This position involves working collaboratively with families, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance family involvement and create a positive impact on individuals' lives.


    Job Responsibilities:

    • To engage families in setting meaningful goals and making positive changes (responsible for about 40 families on average)
    • To provide parent education, service coordination and health, mental health, and nutrition screenings in family's homes.
    • Perform recruitment, selection and enrollment functions including: publicity; answering questions; assistance in completing applications; follow-up on incomplete applications; assisting the selection committee; Family Engagement Manager and Enrollment Specialist with selection, acceptance and classroom assignments'; assist ES in development and maintenance of a waiting list for your service area; and filling vacancies as soon as possible within 30 days.
    • Visit each classroom/center weekly to facilitate collaboration with teaching staff, communication with parents, and to monitor the progress of children.

    Required Skills & Experience


    • Bachelors Degree in a Human Services field (Social Work concentration highly preferred) and
    • At least 1 year of case management experience with low-income children/families (can be from an internship)
    • Ability to relate effectively with children, families, community members and staff of diverse backgrounds
    • Skill and willingness to deal with sensitive family situations in a non-threatening, professional manner
