    Description:

    JOB DESCRIPTION:
    Clinical expert in area of specialization. Integrates knowledge gained through practice and education to respond intuitively to patient/family needs. Routinely leads efforts to strengthen organizational systems that support patient care. Adept at creative problem-solving, negotiating conflict, and collaborating with others. Demonstrates insight, judgment, and clinically sound risk-taking.

    Role models expert communication skills to colleagues through example and has achieved clinical expertise and leadership, is viewed as a professional leader within the unit and beyond.

    Advances and leads evidence-based practices, participates, and leads in unit governance, leads unit projects, and mentors other nurses to achieve in the role of the professional nurse.

    This nurse will have over two years of nursing experience, a BSN (or completion of RN-MSN), MSN, DNP program, and specialty certification.

    Demonstrates expertise in chosen scholarly activities focused on the advancement or promotion of the profession. Role models dependable, effective, and efficient care to a patient population using the nursing process. Demonstrates expert assessment skills. Demonstrates foresight regarding the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes based on intuition and experience.

    Is recognized as an expert clinician and a leader within their area of specialty and assists less experienced nurses concerning patient care.

    Monitors the adherence to documentation standards, provides feedback to staff, and implements test(s) of change. Assists management in making and implementing changes to the documentation process as necessary. Establishes, promotes, and evaluates standardized plans of care for the unit using evidence-based research within the area of specialty. Remains informed of innovative clinical trends through bench marking and evidence-based practice. Collaborates with management and patient/family advisor council to develop standardized teaching materials for patient and family learning needs. Demonstrates exemplary practice using AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care. Role models time management skills through example. Ensures compliance and adherence with stated policies and procedures for a patient population. Identifies, initiates, and collaborates to provide needed educational programs. Demonstrates current evidence-based practice and disseminates information. Questions clinical practice as it relates to research. Role models and educates others utilizing the Synergy model for patient care. Role models delegation skills to colleagues and assist others in effective delegation utilizing the synergy model of care. Assumes a leadership and resource role with the interdisciplinary team. Considered the expert and is viewed as a formal leader. Functions as Charge Nurse when assigned. Orients staff or students as assigned in absence of designated preceptor. Evaluates the use of resources and cost containment activities. Leads and coordinates team behavior between staff members and actively fosters the development of leadership skills in others. Exhibits desire to hear and understand another's point of view. Demonstrates and role models effective communication skills. Takes a leadership role in building and maintaining an environment which fosters open and candid communication. Takes appropriate action to correct unacceptable practice as needed. Develops staff competencies utilizing Clinical Nurse Specialists as resource/consultant. Actively participates in monitoring and developing staff competency. Intuitively uses self in the therapeutic relationship to enhance care. Respects others' values and suspends judgment. Plans constructive interventions based on the patients¿ values.

    Effectively elicits cultural beliefs and values from patients and integrates these into overall patient management Utilizes patient satisfaction feedback as a factor in designing patient care delivery.

    Assists colleagues in resolving routine, non-routine or complex issues and facilitates escalation if necessary. Identifies and systematically addresses the needs of long-term or extended stay patients to improve satisfaction. Monitors issues and their resolution. Respects and maintains confidential information. Must meet all Nurse Clinician Employee Commitments. Achieves electives and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) system to maintain position.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Minimum of bachelor's degree in Nursing.

    At least two years experience as an RN with a minimum of two years of experience in the area of concentration.

    Must have a Nursing specialty certification. Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board. BLS certification required and ACLS may be required in designated departments.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    (Medium-Heavy lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 20-35 lbs, 34-66% of the workday; (frequently); 10-20 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 75 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 35 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking; Occasional sitting; Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing); Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

    Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks.

    Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to:

    Blood-borne pathogen exposure; Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors; Communicable diseases; Electrical shock; Floor Surfaces; Hot/Cold Temperatures; Indoor/Outdoor conditions; Latex; Lighting; Patient care/handling injuries; Radiation; Shift work; Travel may be required; Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators; environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
