Transportation Security Officer Role Overview

A prominent aspect of this position is working with the general public, ensuring the safety and security of travelers at airports across the United States. This job requires screening passengers and baggage, as well as checking IDs and boarding passes to facilitate a smooth travel experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Checkpoint Screening: Screen passengers, carry-on items, and checked baggage using wands, X-ray machines, and other security technology.
• Customer Service: Check IDs and boarding passes, answer questions, help travelers by answering questions efficiently moving them through lines quickly.
• Bag & Person Checks: Perform pat-downs and bag searches when alarms go off or items need a closer look.

A significant advantage of this role is that no prior security experience is required. TSA provides paid training to ensure employees are job-ready upon completion of their training program.
