    Supported Employment and Education Specialist.

The full continuum of River Edge Behavioral Health services provides state-of-the-art treatment and support services for more than 13,000 children, youth, families, and adults annually, who experience mental illness, addiction, co-occurring disorders, or developmental disabilities.

    Supported Employment and Education Specialist:River Edge is looking for an individual who is passionate and motivated about assisting clients in obtaining and maintaining employment in order to "make life better." The primary responsibility of this position will be to develop contacts and partnerships with community businesses and leaders to provide a good match for clients and employers. In addition, this position includes specialized and individualized case management duties.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Engages clients and establishes trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of competitive employment in community job settings with other workers who do not necessarily have disabilities.
    • Assists clients in obtaining information about their benefits (e.g. SSI, Medicaid, etc.) and how they will be affected by employment in order for clients to make informed decisions about employment opportunities.
    • Provides outreach services as necessary to clients when they appear to disengage from the service. Uses a variety of methods to provide outreach.
    • Completes, maintains, and updates programmatic documentation/case records per DBHDD, IPS Fidelity, and VR guidelines.
    • May provide supportive counseling to consumers and families and/or serve as a liaison for social services.
    • Help clients with registration, financial aid, and other educational institution requirements as needed.
    • Establish education/employment goals.
    • Assess strengths and resources needed to meet education goals.
    • Assist with job search, development, and follow-along support for employment.
    • Develop implementation plans for clients including support and accommodation requirements.
    • Monitor client progress and modify plans as needed.
    • Provide support and assistance to clients.
    • Advocate and negotiate for clients in education, employment, and mental health settings.
    • Participate in treatment team meetings.
    • Participate in program and staff performance evaluations.
    • Participate in SE/SED training.
    • Must be willing to transport clients in a personal vehicle.

    Minimum Training & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a social services-related field (social work, sociology, psychology, etc.)

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • At least 6 months of job coaching experience or related experience in Mental Health or Educational fields.
