Position: Field Test Engineer (Wayside Signaling) - Electrical
Location: Boston, MA, with frequent travel between sites
Duration: Initial 6 months, with possibility of extension for another 6 months
Key Requirements:
Expertise in Wayside Signaling and Electrical Engineering
Proficient in executing field tests and troubleshooting
Experience with Electrical tools such as Track Sniffer, Scope meter, Shunting, and multimeter
Familiarity with Computer and Network systems: Windows, WireShark, SSH, and telnet
Demonstrated ability to work in field environments, including train control rooms, bungalows, and wayside tracks
Experience in conducting tests on switch machines, track circuits (PF and AF), signals, and microprocessors (VPI, Microlok, and/or Electrologix)
Knowledgeable about Signaling systems, including principles, troubleshooting, software installation, and log retrieval
Job Description:
As a Field Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the MBTA RLOL Signals Upgrade project by conducting Electrical field test activities focused on Wayside Signaling, under the direction of the T&C Manager. Your responsibilities will include executing test activities as directed by Alstom Test engineers and managers, and meticulously documenting test results, discrepancies, and progress reports. Your expertise in Electrical tools and systems, coupled with your hands-on experience in field environments, will be essential in ensuring the smooth execution of tests on various signaling components. Additionally, your knowledge of Signaling systems will be instrumental in troubleshooting issues, installing software, and retrieving logs as needed.
