    Compensation: $66,500.00 – $73,150.00 Start Date: July 1, 2024

    Antioch University seeks an experienced Allied Health professional with teaching experience to serve as the Chair of the Master of Science in Allied Health (MSAH) program in its newly established Graduate School of Nursing and Health Professions (GSNHP), which will open fall 2024. The Chair will implement, develop, and provide leadership for the MSAH Program. This is a 12-month position including both administrative and teaching duties.

    Background

    Antioch University has joined with Otterbein University to establish the Coalition for the Common Good, the first national higher education system of affiliated universities organized around a shared mission of promoting democracy, social and racial justice, and the common good. Central to the first phase of the Coalition is the transfer of existing Otterbein University graduate programs in nursing and health professions to Antioch University. Otterbein's nursing and health and sport sciences programs are fully accredited, have consistently high professional exam pass rates, and successfully prepare students to advance their careers after graduation.

    Otterbein has deep roots in its historic base in Central Ohio, while Antioch University has a national presence with locations in Los Angeles; Seattle; Santa Barbara; and Keene, New Hampshire. Its graduate programs are offered at the master's and doctoral levels and in modalities that best align with pedagogical goals and the needs of adult learners. Both Antioch and Otterbein are committed to enhancing access to higher education and preparing graduates to lead with integrity and advance their communities and professions for the common good.

    Antioch MSAH program is slated to launch in the fall semester (August The existing Otterbein MSAH program curriculum, which includes an Exercise and Health Science track and a Healthcare Administration track, will transfer with the program, and classes will shift from a hybrid to a fully online format. Building on a solid foundation, the new program chair will have the opportunity to grow and enhance the program and develop interdisciplinary collaborations with other Antioch programs.

    Position Summary

    Under the leadership of the Founding Dean, Graduate School of Nursing and Health Professions (GSNHP), the MSAH Program Chair will contribute to the development of the GSNHP mission, vision, and values. The MSAH Program Chair has responsibility and authority for the overall administration and implementation of the Master of Science in Allied Health program, which includes two tracks: Healthcare Administration and Exercise & Health Sciences. The Chair is responsible for performing or delegating responsibilities to assure year-round coverage of chair responsibilities in the absence of the chair.

    The MSAH Chair will also contribute to the Coalition for the Common Good program growth and expansion efforts.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Curriculum and Teaching

  • Coordinate and oversee the MSAH Program curriculum development and annual review.
  • Prepare course schedules and assign teaching responsibilities in collaboration with the Divisional Dean and other relevant graduate program
  • Recommend changes in curriculum and/or changes in degree requirements.
  • Teach one to two (1-2) classes per year.
  • Serve as main advisor for student theses and practicum experiences.Faculty/Staff
  • Working with the School Dean and Divisional Dean, recommend the hiring of faculty to teach MSAH courses and qualified staff.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff within the MSAH Program.Research/Service/Committee
  • Serve on School and University committees and otherwise be engaged in University and Coalition affairs.Student Advising and Recruitment
  • Advise students/oversee advising of MSAH students; provide policy and procedure information to new and continuing students.
  • Review graduate student petitions for admissions, transfer credit, and academic appeals.
  • Coordinate and supervise recruitment and selection of prospective MSAH students.
  • Review the files of new applicants prior to admission decisions by departmental Admissions Committees.Admissions/Outreach/Marketing/Communication
  • Work with University offices and graduate recruiters to assure accuracy of web and catalog content related to the MSAH Program.
  • Advise the marketing team on content for marketing materials.Policy and Procedures
  • Develop policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program and to ensure fair, equitable, and considerate treatment of prospective and enrolled students.
  • Develop and help maintain the MSAH's policy and procedure manual, which will address (among others) program admission, retention, and completion policies.
  • Oversee admissions requirements for the program in consultation with Divisional Dean and other relevant groups/individuals.
  • Contribute to the development of Graduate School of Nursing and Health Professions policies.
  • Ensure that student records and other necessary documentation are maintained and up to date.Budget
  • Collaborate with the School and Divisional Deans to develop and manage the program budget in alignment with the divisional budget.Qualifications and Experience
  • Doctoral degree or equivalent in healthcare field.
  • At least five years of professional experience in a healthcare profession, some management experience preferred.
  • Experience teaching, training, and/or educating in allied health context, including competence in and current knowledge of educational principles and techniques used in higher education.
  • Experience in online/hybrid learning preferredHours of Employment

    This is a full-time, exempt, Faculty position serving a national university which operates in multiple time zones. A work schedule will be established in consultation with the supervisor.

    Work Location

    Anywhere within the continental United States, either from a home office or at a campus or University location. Occasional travel will be required.
