- Lead and perform advanced reverse engineering of microelectronic components and systems, including integrated circuits and printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Develop innovative solutions and strategies for reverse engineering with invasive, semi-invasive, and non-invasive techniques, including use of focused ion beam (FIB) and scanning electron microscope (SEM), electro-optical interactions, and fault and side-channel techniques
- Support business development activities by identifying new opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and providing technical expertise during proposal development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, testing, and manufacturing, to ensure successful project outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
- Prepare and present technical reports, findings, and recommendations to both internal stakeholders and external clients at a high level of detail and accuracy.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the reverse engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and innovation.
- Contribute to the development and execution of strategic initiatives, including research collaborations, technology partnerships, and intellectual property protection.
- Utilize state-of-the-art tools and techniques to analyze and deconstruct complex microelectronic devices and systems, while staying current with industry advancements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in microelectronics reverse engineering, with a focus on integrated circuits, PCBs, and firmware.
- Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret security clearance.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in microelectronics reverse engineering, including a deep understanding of state-of-the-art tools, techniques, and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead complex projects and drive innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven track record of success in mentoring and developing technical teams.
- Familiarity with best practices and emerging technologies in the microelectronics field
- BS, MS, or PhD degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar program and/or 2+ years of related experience

Department Summary:
MITRE's Electronic Systems Development and Embedded Security department is seeking to hire a talented and creative hardware reverse engineer with a focus on microelectronics / integrated circuits (IC) to support advanced research and development projects of national significance
Qualified candidates will join and help lead a team of technical experts in embedded hardware security
This team performs hands-on hardware security assessments using a variety of equipment for deprocessing, imaging, and characterizing microelectronics at our state-of-the-art lab
