    SUMMARY
    The Assistant Branch Manager is a highly visible, management position reporting directly to the Branch Manager. This position requires self-motivated management, teaching skills and a commitment to provide absolute customer service. Functions of this position are highly confidential. As with any position in the management staff the focus is on company image, customer satisfaction and promotion.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Position is responsible for managing the Grand Rapids Division with staff performing import, export and/or accounting functions, customer rate requests, quotations, correspondence, reports and functions requested by the President or Officers.

    Procedures for all functions are provided.

    1) Preparing letters, quotations, emails, faxes, databases, spreadsheets, presentations and memorandums as requested.
    2) Directing and supervising staff. Following and enforcing company policy and rules.
    3) Investigations of cost and selection of carriers, agents or vendors with final approval of the President or company officers.
    4) Customer advocate to inform executive management of customer concerns or needs.
    5) Attendance during company normal business hours is mandatory. Occasional work outside of normal hours will be required.
    6) Any function requested by the President or officers to accommodate operations.
    7) Additional duties as assigned or deemed appropriate by the company.
    8) Travel both foreign and domestic will be required. Frequent client entertainment is required.


    QUALIFICATIONS
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Preferred

    Bachelor's degree (B.A.) and or minimum of 5 years management experience with a carrier or logistics company. Combination of education and or experience is acceptable. CargoWise experience a plus.

    ISO 9001 Training is required. Ability to travel, if requested, for customer contact or education opportunities.


    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Ability to read, write, follow directions in English, and possess above average listening skills. Strong interpersonal skills and a sensitivity to understand customer and staff needs.


    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
