Position: Special Education Teacher for Moderate/Severe or Extensive Support Needs

School Year:

Duration: August 16, June 6, 2025

Salary: Disclosed by school district

Classroom Settings:

Middle School: 6-7 students
TK (Transitional Kindergarten) or K-1: Approximately 7-8 students (final placement to be determined)

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with moderate to severe or extensive support needs.
Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the unique learning needs of each student.
Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and parents to support student learning and development.
Create a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment.
Use a variety of instructional strategies and techniques to promote student engagement and learning.
Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting instruction as necessary.
Support students in developing social, emotional, and life skills.
Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior support strategies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for each student.

Qualifications:

Must have one of the following credentials:
- Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) credential with the ability to work with higher needs TK students and a Bridge credential (or ability to obtain it by the start of the school year).
- Extensive Needs/Moderate Severe credential.
Experience working in a Special Day Class (SDC) setting preferred.
Strong understanding of special education laws and best practices.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
