    Job Responsibilities:

    The Respiratory Therapist II, an RCP, carries out general ward therapy procedures such as oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, bronchial hygiene procedures, and CPR. Additionally, they handle Adult Critical Care RT procedures involving ventilator system setup and management, specialty gases, and monitoring. Necessary training includes proficiency in Arterial Puncture for Blood Gas Analysis. There's an opportunity for further training in various subspecialties like managing Perinatal/Pediatric Ventilator Systems, assisting in bronchoscopies, performing RT procedures in Pulmonary Rehabilitation Centers, and operating the RT Order Entry System. Following training, RTs are encouraged to operate in the subspecialty areas they have mastered.

    Additional duties in specific department(s) like the Pulmonary Function lab include:

    • Scheduling patient testing.
    • Verifying MD orders and indications for testing.
    • Conducting pulmonary function and exercise tests, arterial punctures.
    • Collating and submitting test results for interpretation.
    • Handling patient billings.
    • Being a Certified/Registered Pulmonary Function Tech upon employment.
    • Possessing a minimum of one year of experience in pulmonary function testing.

    Qualifications

    Job Qualifications:
    • Completion of Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy (Preferably Bachelor's Degree).
    • Minimum of two years of experience as a respiratory therapist in an acute care setting.
    • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the State of California.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Current Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification.
