    8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 8 through a combination of Post Holdings' private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, ("THL"), a private equity firm.

    Responsibilities

    Dakota Growers Pasta Company, in Carrington, ND, has internship opportunities available for Manufacturing Interns in our Production Department.

    The Manufacturing Internship offers students the opportunity to gain valuable first-hand experience working with state-of-the-art packaging equipment and to apply classroom concepts in a fast-paced Manufacturing setting.

    Manufacturing Interns will be exposed to the Assistant Press Operator position and should, at the completion of the internship, be able to perform all functions of the position without direct supervision. Interns will be trained in company policies, such as safety, good manufacturing practices, food safety, and how these policies affect the work of the manufacturing team.

    Assistant Press Operators direct pasta extrusion on drying equipment to produce dry pasta for a variety of customers. Operator monito instrumentation to ensure operational set points (temperature, humidity, time, and pressure) are obtained to produce high quality products. Production data is automatically trended, and machine operations are evaluated throughout each shift. Ongoing reviews of the physical attributes of the product and process are critical to ensure that production guidelines and specifications are achieved.

    Manufacturing Interns will receive on-the-job training in all areas of machine operation and will learn the process for dry pasta packaging in a hand on setting. Candidates for the internship should have effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills. The ability to lift, bend, twist, and tolerate high heat and humidity is necessary.

    Preferred areas of study include: Process Plant Technology, Power Plant Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or other manufacturing and processing technology programs.
