- Coordinate all aspects of student employment at Lawrence. Send necessary communications, present at meetings, and be the point of contact for both students and student supervisors.
- Complete employment paperwork for students.
- Coordinate student employment/work study reporting requirements & process off Campus Work Study Invoices.
- Coordinate and analyze student salary budgets.
- Support internal processes to employee benefit programs. Benefit programs include retirement, medical, prescription, vision, dental, life insurance, AD&D, short and long-term disability, long term care, and EAP amongst others.
- Process benefit enrollments, COBRA administration, terminations, mid-year changes, and open enrollment elections.
- Manage monthly retiree medical and dental billing and annual Medicare supplement reimbursement and life insurance billing. Provide support and answer questions from these constituents.
- Run annual reporting for annual primary care visits - health care credit
- Process tuition waiver program for all employees.
- Serve as day-to-day contact for background check vendor relationship. Ensure online portal and processes are running as intended. Send and troubleshoot all questions and concerns from candidates and existing employees as well as students requiring a background and/or MVR check.
- Redirect employment verification requests to verification vendor.
- Create employee records in HRIS.
- Maintain employment status changes and contract employee records.
- Maintain employee files and other employment related documents. Manage the execution of the Lawrence University records retention policy.
- Perform daily and monthly audits to correct and maintain the accuracy and integrity of all employment data.
- Backup for the faculty/staff payroll.
- Audit payroll data to ensure accuracy and adherence to all payroll policies and procedures.
- Maintain necessary documentation for payroll records such as W-4 and I-9, and direct deposit authorization.
- Assist with the gathering of information for annual testing, audits and WC reporting.
- Assist with the process of W2s and 1042 year-end filing as needed.
- Coordinate treaty exempt amounts for International students and employees and apply accordingly.
- Make updates to the HR webpage when necessary. Provide recommendations to improve the content and layout of all sections.
- Serve as initial point of contact and resource for department inquiries and assist the Human Resources Department in day-to-day operational activities.
- Manage general HR email inbox as well as fax inbox. Personally address requests or send to appropriate HR team member.
- Lead or serve on project teams to advance operations of the HR Office. Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of operations and services performed.
- Maintain current knowledge of HR laws, practices, procedures, and trends. Make recommendations accordingly, specifically focused on recruitment and onboarding.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times through timely and accurate responses.
- Work closely with human resources staff to enhance knowledge and understanding of employment law, HR practices and procedures and areas of interest.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
- Assist the HR & Payroll team in ongoing efforts to increase cultural competency and diversity within the campus community.
- Serve on various campus committees. Complete committee work as assigned.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Prior experience with an HRIS database and an applicant tracking system is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional organizational, prioritization, problem solving, attention to detail and follow-up skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Possess the ability to adapt and respond appropriately in ambiguous situations.

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field and/or Associate's degree and equivalent work experience.
- Must have successful completion of criminal record check, driving record check, and reference checks.
