    Job Description and Duties

    Will Consider Staff Services Analyst.

    Under the general direction of the District's Health, Safety and Equal Opportunity Branch Chief, an SSM I, the incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to Small Business, Training, Workers' Compensation, and Safety Program for District 3. The position is responsible for performing tasks associated with the design, development, implementation of Small Business materials and trainings, reports, and delivery of safety and mandated trainings as related to the Caltrans Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).

    Serves as the Small Business Coordinator to the District's Small Business Liasion (DSBL) for contracts and procurement. Develops and implements training materials to market Caltrans desire to do contracts and procurement with Small Business (SB), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and Disabled Veteran business Enterprises (DVBE). Collaborates with the DSBL to communicate and train SB/DVBE/DBE owners in the benefits of certification. Develops and conducts workshops to make certification as easy as possible. Represents Caltrans at workshops and meetings to encourage certification. Participates in recruitment events, minority business events, and other public events to encourage participation. Assists SB/DVBE/DBE owners in the completion of various forms necessary for the certification. Works with and inform Caltrans, Agency, and other providers of information to keep current with policy and procedures. Works with focus groups to improve procedures. Collects, analyzes and reports statistics and trends to management and provides recommendations to achieve goals. Coordinates the implementation and collection of information with all divisions.

    This position has access to highly confidential and sensitive information. Regular and punctual attendance is required. Occasional travel is required. Must possess a valid drivers license.

    Working Conditions

    Position located in Marysville, Yuba County

    While in the normal office setting, incumbent will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting. Incumbent will be required to travel in inclement weather, may work outdoors, and may be exposed to direct, noise, uneven surfaces and extreme weather conditions. The incumbent may attend public, community, and/or industry meetings outside of normal work hours. The incumbent must have the ability to operate a personal computer, use MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access and ability to learn and use other software.


    New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
