- Passion for mid-market and impact investing
- Previous exposure to the asset class (direct equity or mezzanine experience) preferred.
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
- Strong financial modelling skills
- Advanced excel skills.
- Bachelor's degree; competitive GPA in a relevant field (e.g. finance, economics).
- Natural inclination to develop and work alongside others in collaborative team environment.
- Support direct equity and debt investment decisions through:
- Preparation of investment committee materials
- Preparing excel models (including detailed operating models, valuation models and transaction models) that capture various transaction structures and waterfalls.
- Leading due diligence workstreams including financial DD, commercial DD, legal DD etc.
- Support negotiations with counterparties and investment partners on behalf of UV.
- Assist in assessing risk/reward attributes of potential transactions on a relative and absolute return basis through sensitivity analyses.
- Assist in the strategy and sourcing of investment opportunities across sectors and geographies.
- Participate in the investment closing process for approved investments alongside legal, accounting, operations, and risk management.
- Lead portfolio company monitoring by compiling and summarizing monthly and quarterly performance by each portfolio company to identify and monitor key drivers of earnings and sources of potential risks.
- Track investments and complete periodic valuation reviews, including financial modeling and analysis.
- Developing strategic initiatives internally and driving execution with external and internal partners.
- Assist the fund principals in the restructuring and fundraising process.
- Assist the fund in maintaining SBA compliance.
- Prepare ad-hoc reporting for senior management and for LPs, including performance benchmarking.
- Work with other team members in a collaborative setting.

University Ventures ("UV") is a Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) with an evergreen on-balance sheet fund. Currently, the portfolio has 4 legacy investments, and the Company is seeking to deploy available capital into new transactions. The Company is also in a growth trajectory with plans to raise additional capital for its evergreen fund and a new private equity fund. This presents the opportunity to be part of a small growing team in its early stages and shape the direction of the fund while deploying capital into meaningful impact deals.
