    How you would make an impact/key responsibilities:

    Join the dynamic MMSI team as a Outboard Mechanic responsible for performing maintenance and repair for the Southeast Region Port Operations for the Navy.

    This position is located at Naval base Mayport, Florida.

    Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Performs routine preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance of various types of outboard gasoline engines to include Yamaha and Honda. Assists when needed, with the preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance to the Marine Diesel Engines.
    • Tests engine, transmission, rigging, propeller, navigational, and related systems to diagnose malfunctions, using various measuring instruments.
    • Replace or repair defective vessel and engine components. Additionally can address problems involving boat steering mechanisms or propellers.
    • Examine repair or installation orders, drawings, and vessel, utilizing knowledge based on experience to determine extent of repairs required or modifications necessary for installation of equipment, accessories, and hardware.
    • Install and test steering gear, sanitation and refrigeration systems, electrical systems and accessories, electronic components and accessories, hardware, trim and related components following manufacturer's instructions and drawings.
    • Performs maintenance and repair on hydraulic pumps, valves, and regulators.
    • Position and secure blocking at bottom and sides of vessels according to size, weight, and weight distribution of vessels, using fasteners, hand tools, and power tools
