- Own the new‑hire experience from offer through day‑30 check‑in, ensuring all licensure, registry, and background checks are completed on time.
- Identify bottlenecks in recruiting/onboarding and recommend practical fixes.
- Conducts and facilitates new hire orientation class every other Monday and all onboarding and new hire paperwork.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and completion of required employment documentation. Tracking and follow up for license requirements that all information is received.
- Maintain personnel files in compliance with state, federal, and organizational requirements
- Ensures appropriate background checks of CARI, Central Registry, OIG, MVR, and General background checks.
- Partner with supervisors and program leads on routine employee‑relations items with appropriate documentation and escalation.
- Assist with Team Member relations matters, including documentation, investigations, and corrective action processes
- Strong relationship‑building across programs, clinical leadership, and operations.
- Support performance management processes, including evaluations and coaching documentation
- Ensure compliance with federal and New Jersey employment laws (wage and hour, leave laws, personnel files, postings)
- Track Team Member licenses, certifications, background checks, and required training
- Monitor HRIS data quality and create simple dashboards for time‑to‑fill, onboarding completion, and training compliance.
- Conducts benefit orientation for new hire or change of life status
- Administer leave programs (FMLA, NJFLA, NJ Family Leave Insurance, sick leave, and other organizational leaves)
- Coordinate with payroll and benefits vendors as needed
- Support staff training initiatives, including compliance, onboarding, and professional development programs
- Track training completion and maintaining records
- Coordinate with Payroll and Finance on accurate and timely changes, reconciliations, and audits.
- Critical thinking with the ability to propose solutions, not just identify issues.
- Basic data literacy to turn HRIS reports into simple insights.
- Bias for action and strong follow‑through in a fast‑moving environment.
- Assist with developing and maintaining job description
- Assist with HR audits, policy updates, and special projects
- Support organizational initiatives related to Team Member engagement and retention including benefits and investigations
- Perform other duties as assigned to support HR operations
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3 years of HR Generalist or HR support experience
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
- Experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, social services, or behavioral health setting
- Knowledge of New Jersey employment and leave laws
- HR certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) or progress toward certification a plus
- Attention to detail and strong follow-through
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
