    Description

    JOB SUMMARY

    Provides quality care that is dependent on physician order or directed by the NP. Delivers nursing interventions based on professional judgment in response to individualized patient needs. Promotes restorative health and/or supportive care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    1. Scribe for the provider
    2. Completes training program for procedures and clinical documentation
    3. Assisting the provider during dermatologic visits
    4. Giving injections
    5. Assisting with surgical procedures
    6. Functioning independently to perform minor procedures
    7. Notifying patients of test results
    8. Addressing medication needs
    9. Completing prior authorizations for medications
    10. Sets up and assists with MOHS, PDT, Wide Excisions, I&D and other procedures
    11. Performs and documents suture removals
    12. Prepares and administers injections, including numbing skin
    13. Prepares patients for PDT and documents treatment as ordered
    14. Courteously notifies patients of lab and pathology results with provider instructions
    15. Returns patient/family phone calls to providers answering questions and giving re-assurance
    16. Other duties as directed

    B. Core Duties:
    1. Provides patient care by collecting, monitoring, and reporting information and responding to basic needs
    2. Promotes patient engagement by considering specific needs, values and preferences
    3. Accurately and completely documents patient information and nursing care in the patient's medical record
    4. Promotes continuity of care by reporting activities, incidences, and changing patient needs to the next caregiver
    5. Demonstrates infection prevention behaviors, consistent handwashing and use of appropriate PPEs
    6. Adheres to safe medication administration while preparing, administering, documenting and monitoring meds
    7. Recognizes safety risk and implements prevention of risks of falls, skin breakdown and injury
    8. Contributes to the department's performance improvement activities
    9. C. Minimum Requirements: Current LPN license by the Mississippi Board of Nursing OR Medical Assisting certification or relevant experience. Must be able to read, write, and understand written and verbal communication.

      D. Interaction Skills: Effectively communicate verbally and in writing; Ability to provide instructions and education.
