    Position Description

    We are seeking a creative, collaborative, and innovative Costumer/Dresser to work in support of 4-5 annual events in Branson's Visual and Performing Arts Department. This is a per-production stipend organized with the Production Managers at the outset of each production not to exceed $10,000 per academic year. There is a great deal of flexibility in the work time except for those specifically scheduled meetings, rehearsals and performances.

    The Costumer/Dresser will work with the Performing Arts teachers and Technical Director in support of our student performers to help create, fit, organize and manage costume-related aspects of our major productions. The Arts department at Branson is a well-established and vital component of the Branson student experience. The arts at Branson are especially unique in the ways they are interwoven into the educational fabric via interdisciplinary projects, celebrated through community festivals & concerts, and engaged in meaningful work outside the studios in robust visiting artist programming and in partnership with local organizations. Annual salary: $12,000.00.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversight of design, fitting, organizing and cleaning of Costumes for each student in each performance including Annual Musical (Nov.), Dance Concert (Jan.), Spring Play (March), and FAB - Festival of Arts at Branson (April).
    • Dedicated and responsive student-centered approach. Interact with students in refining, fitting and minor alterations.
    • Collaboration with teachers and Technical Theater director in developing specific costume related needs during pre-production. Manage and organize Costume Closet and storage areas.
    • Attend Tech week and Productions and any necessary meetings.
    • Organize any follow-up repair, cleaning and returning of costumes at the conclusion of events.
    • Willingness to work during school hours, evenings and weekends as needed to meet with students and teachers.
    Key Qualifications and Skills
    • Experience in Costume-related theatrical and dance productions preferred.
    • Awareness of current costume practices and sensitivity to cultural appropriation.
    • Demonstrated curiosity in developing costume design for a given performance. Understanding of costuming needs and ability to "pull and fit" pieces to articulate that vision.
    • Clear communication and strong organizational skills..
    • Ability to pass state and federal background check, fingerprinting, and provide a recent negative TB test or screening.
