    Description

    GridIron IT is seeking an Application Systems Engineerlocal to Fairfax, VA.

    Active Secret Security Clearance required.

    Position Summary:

    • Install, configure, maintain, update, manage, and refine information systems.
    • Ensure system components maintain compliance with DoD requirements.
    • Examine enclave vulnerabilities and determine actions to mitigate them.
    • Coordinate and/or provide support for all enclave applications and operations.
    • Support out of band patching and upgrades; which may require non-standard working hours.
    • Recommend, schedule, and/or implement repairs within the enclave environment.
    • Develop and maintain images for virtual desktops and servers.
    • Evaluate system performance and make appropriate recommendations.
    • Support risk mitigation activities such as CCRI's, Assessment and Authorization (A&A), continuous monitoring, and vulnerability and configuration management.
    • Schedule and perform backups on all enclave systems.
    • Conduct functional, interoperability, and security testing.
    • Analyze system performance for potential security problems.
    • Participate in technical incident response and security assessment activities.
    • Support the development of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) and plans.
    • Provide knowledge transfer to team members and clients as needed.
    • Conduct other duties as needed
    • Required Skills:
    • Must be a US Citizen
    • Active DoD Secret Security clearance or ability to receive a Secret clearance
    • 3-5 years experience
    • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting Linux Operating systems.
    • Working knowledge of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for server, client, and application hardening
    • Hands on experience in configuring and implementing backup procedures and policies
    • Ability to interface with all levels from end-users to senior management
    • Qualify for DoD IAT Level II within 6 months of hire.
    • One of the following: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP
    • Demonstrated ability to understand the system and its environment of operation
    • Master technical capabilities like:
      • Linux engineering (CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu)
      • Windows engineering (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SQL, etc.)
      • Hypervisors (Nutanix Acropolis, VMWare ESXi, etc.)
      • Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
      • Networking
      • DoD ACAS, HBSS, SCAP, and STIGs.
    • Desired Skills:
    • One Linux certification
    • Scripting languages (Bash/Python/PowerShell etc.)
    • Docker/Kubernetes
    • Web server administration (IIS, Apache, NGINX, etc.)
    • Storage technologies
    • System orchestration (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.)
    • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting Windows Operating systems.
    • Ability to write/edit and execute technical documents including, but not limited to: Standard Operating Procedures, CONOPS, and other documents as required.
