Boater's World Marine Centers is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Yard Attendant to join our team at our Grand Prairie, TX location. This position plays a key role in maintaining the appearance, organization, and flow of our outdoor operations while ensuring all boats are clean, presentable, and ready for customers.
The Yard Attendant is responsible for the day-to-day care of the yard, including moving boats, assisting customers and technicians, and performing regular boat detailing and cleaning.
Key Responsibilities
- Boat Detailing & Cleaning: Clean, wash, dry, and detail boats to ensure they are customer-ready for display, delivery, and service return. This includes wiping down interiors, hulls, consoles, glass, and upholstery.
- Boat Handling & Movement Safely: Move, launch, load, stage, and store boats throughout the yard and dealership property.
- Driving & Transport: Operate company trucks and tow vehicles to move boats, trailers, and equipment on-site and occasionally off-site.
- Yard Organization & Maintenance: Keep the yard organized, clean, and professional-looking by maintaining boat placement, walkways, docks, and storage areas.
- Inventory Support: Assist with tracking and staging boats and trailers, ensuring accurate placement and availability.
- Customer Assistance: Help customers with boat loading, unloading, and basic questions, and direct them to sales or service staff as needed.
- Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts, tractors, trailers, and other yard equipment safely and responsibly.
- Support for Service Department Move boats to and from service bays, assist technicians with positioning vessels, and help prepare boats for repairs and delivery.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment for employees and customers.
- Facility Appearance: Help maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of outdoor areas, including parking lots, docks, and staging areas.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with sales, service, and management to keep operations running smoothly.
- Other Duties: Other job duties as assigned by management. This job description does not include every task that may be required in this role.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Previous experience in a yard attendant, lot attendant, detailer, or hands-on outdoor role is a plus
- Experience cleaning, washing, or detailing boats, vehicles, or equipment preferred but not required
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to safely handle, move, and position boats and trailers
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to operate or willingness to learn forklifts, tractors, trailers, and other yard equipment
- Strong attention to detail, especially when cleaning and preparing boats for display or delivery
- Ability to follow safety procedures and dealership processes
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Positive attitude and willingness to assist customers and team members as needed
- Basic communication skills and ability to take direction from management and technicians
