Needham Public Schools is an inclusive, dynamic, and multicultural community seeking an energetic, skilled, and warm MIDDLE SCHOOL SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER to join our team at Pollard Middle School. To enhance our goals of supporting every child, Needham Public Schools seeks candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
The responsibilities include planning, teaching, and assessing four sections of Social Studies, as well as facilitating a daily advisory. The teacher will work collaboratively with members of the Social Studies Department to follow the curriculum and with members of the interdiscipilnary cluster team to support student learning and growth. This team includes special education, guidance, and related service providers.
Under the general supervision of the Social Studies Department Chair, this teacher will be responsible for advancing students' critical reading, thinking, writing, speaking, & listening skills. As a Needham educator, this teacher will work collaboratively to integrate the attributes, skills, and knowledge made explicit in the Portrait of a Needham Graduate, emphasizing the preparation of students to become socially and culturally responsive contributors.
Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, have experience working with and/or teaching middle school students, and understand the diverse needs of students at this age. Additionally, candidates who have a collaborative work ethic, training/experience in the use of instructional technology, a commitment to inclusive pedagogy, and the potential to contribute to student life beyond the classroom are strongly encouraged to apply.

Salary is determined by education and experience, ranging from Bachelor's (Step 1) $63,217 to Doctorate (Step 13) $128,771 (based on a 1.0 FTE).
