Staff Accountant Job Description

The Staff Accountant will be an integral part of the Finance & Accounting team supporting the Accounting Manager and Controller. This role will report directly to the Accounting Manager.

Preferred Location: Greater Milwaukee area (Hybrid acceptable)

Responsibilities:

Assisting with cash applications of a high invoice volume business and documentation of the process
Recording the bi-weekly payroll journal entries.
Perform account analyses and reconciliations.
Support general ledger maintenance and prepare journal entries.
Support various accounting functions including financial reporting.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring the books are closed efficiently, timely and accurately.
Ensure financial transactions are accounted for accurately.
Support the work with third-party advisors, including the company's external auditors, technical accounting, and tax partners.
Work seamlessly with the finance team and/or third-party support
Assist with external audits.
Assess current processes and procedures and recommend process improvements as applicable.
Effectively partner with and communicate across the Finance and Accounting function.
Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and requests as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3+ years of relevant accounting work experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
Certified Public Accountant, preferred.
NetSuite experience, preferred.
Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational and project managements abilities.
Initiative-taking energetic approach and ability to challenge the status quo.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Collaborator with a proven history of effective collaboration
An elevated level of people skills and an ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
