Additionally manufactures a complete line of Juvenile furniture and recently expanding into adult furniture, all echo-friendly with a modern twist.
Position: Business Unit Manager
Reports to: VP Operations
Focus: Monitoring, planning, and implementing production, quality processes, safety objectives, etc. to support accomplishment of company business objectives
Core Activities:
1. Monitor daily production to ensure shipping requirements are met through setting and achieving production rates, leading operator communication, and facilitating productivity improvements.
2. Participate in manpower planning, proposing solutions for manpower fluctuations.
3. Participate in capital planning, proposing solutions for growth and business improvements
4. Know, communicate, and be responsible for the achievement of manufacturing key metrics, labor efficiency, cost of quality, safety, delivery, and employee engagement.
5. Accurately and efficiently develop and implement action plans to achieve metrics goals.
6. Ensure the environment is safe/free of avoidable risk, by reporting safety concerns immediately, enforcing required PPE usage, as well as identifying potential safety issues, and taking appropriate action.
7. Drive, as well as participate in, lean initiatives and continuous improvement events, specifically standardized work and kaizen.
8. Drive team suggestions and implementation of ideas to increase efficiency, resulting in cost reductions.
9. Complete and present annual performance reviews for all direct report employees, outlining positive and negative performance, and documenting a plan of action based on employee needs both positive or improvement needed.
10. Provide consistent feedback to employees regarding job task performance and accomplishment of goals. Address unacceptable performance by administering discipline actions fairly using The VWS handbook.
11. Participates with the HR in the process of hiring and/or terminating employees as needed.
12. Oversee on the job training efforts, working with the HR to ensure necessary training and documentation occurs.
Requirements:
· Minimum of a bachelor's degree in business management or supply chain management or related field
· Knowledge of quality control principles
· Strong computer skills
