Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position will work out of the VCHD location at 1845 Holsonback Drive, Daytona Beach, FL but will provide clinic services at the various sites throughout Volusia and Flager counties. The employee is expected to arrive at assigned location (daily) on time at the provided start time. Mileage will be paid in accordance with State policies for travel to different service site locations within the counties.
This position will work in a busy clinic setting with a variety of duties in Immunizations, Family Planning, STD, HIV, TB and Refugee Health services. This is a responsible position requiring excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Must demonstrate the knowledge, skill and abilities for nursing protocols indentified in this class. Must conform to the standards set forth in the personnel rules and regulations and the written policies of FDOH, DOH-Volusia and DOH-Flagler. Must be able to communicate and build rapport effectively.
This position will:
- Gather and record pertinent data/information on client records from patient histories, assessment and interview process.
- Provide appropriate client education and counseling related to each health services program.
- Document in electronic health record and review record and service coding for completeness, accuracy and quality assurance purposes.
- Assist providers with examinations, physicals and other procedures as necessary.
- Refer clients to community resources
- Issue prescribed medications/birth control/ECP per DOH-Volusia Nurse Issuance Protocol and/or under the direction of a provider.
- Administer injectable medications/birth control/immunizations as appropriate.
- Review vaccination records and status to provide direct immunization services which includes the education, counseling and administration of immunizations to children and adults, and travelers per CDC, ACIP, VFC, FDOH and DOH-Volusia guidelines.
- Update vaccination records in FL SHOTS and issues appropriate documentation, i.e. Form 680 and religious exemptions in accordance in the agency policy.
- Perform phlebotomy services and routine laboratory testing
- Assist in setting up examination rooms, preparing instruments for various procedures, maintaining the
care of instruments and equipment, cleaning and wrapping instruments, cleaning exam rooms at the end of clinic each day, restocking rooms and maintaining work area.
- Assist with the orientation of students, new staff members and cross-training fellow clinical employees.
- Provide direction and assistance to Licensed Practical Nurses.
Other duties as assigned.
•Attends and participates in staff development, such as team/staff meetings and in-service
training/continuing education.
•Attends computer skills/training classes as needed
•Performs other related duties as assigned
•Maintains timely submission of EARs, timesheets, telephone invoices, and travel documentation.
•Emergency duty
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Nursing and Public Health principles, practices and techniques

Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida, and have 2 years of professional nursing experience?or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing and licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida AdministrativeCode
