The Clinical Coordinator of Quality Compliance performs testing on patient specimens, evaluates results, and maintains equipment and records independently. The Clinical Coordinator of Quality Compliance serves as an expert resource in laboratory discipline; trains staff, students and physicians. The Clinical Coordinator of Quality Compliance performs limited administrative duties in the absence of the supervisor.
The Clinical Coordinator of Quality Compliance develops and implements new techniques and methodologies and recommends testing based on clinical effectiveness, outcomes and operational efficiency, as well as, presents new analytical methodologies at intradepartmental and national meetings.
The Clinical Coordinator of Quality Compliance participates in the implementation of systems to support academic development and marketing of laboratory services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Ensures effective operations of the department through coordination/integration of processes both intralaboratory and extralaboratory departments.
*Identifies, processes and analyzes patient samples using appropriate laboratory protocol.
*Instructs employees, students, residents and/or physicians in a classroom and/or laboratory setting in procedures, technique and theory; documents training and competency of new employees and regular staff annually.
*The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.
Position qualifications:
Required:
*Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) from accredited institution (Required)
*Successful completion of CAHEA or NAACLS accredited Medical Technology program or BS from accredited institution with major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science and ASCP technologist generalist or categorical certification or equivalent certification; or equivalent education and experience per CLIA and TN Medical Laboratory Board for personnel performing high complexity testing.(Required). Allowed 120 days to obtain categorical State of Tennessee, Medical Technologist licensure. Considered 'in training' prior to license approval.
Preferred:
*MLS (ASCP) Certification and state of Tennessee Medical Technologist license
*Prior experience with coordination of quality compliance in the diagnostic laboratories
