This is a salaried, exempt position.
The incumbent is expected to devote such time and energy as is reasonably necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Position may require further availability evenings, weekends, holidays and special events.SUMMARY:
Maximizes profitability by optimizing revenue and controlling expenses through exemplary leadership, team building, communications, knowledge, and analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Develop a leadership team that is professional, skilled, and motivated to continually strive towards excellence.
Ensure that high company morale and engagement is maintained through an environment of fairness, consistency, positivity, honesty, and decisive leadership.
Communicate honestly and effectively to all casino stakeholders including team members, guests, DCGC, RREA BOD, the press, the public and vendors.
Plan, develop and implement strategies for generating increased revenues for the casino.
Advise and update RREA BOD on key decisions and implications.
Design and maintain recruitment, hiring and retention strategies that place the most qualified individuals on the team and which are consistent with Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO).
Achieve maximum profitability through efficient and targeted marketing programs, state-of-the-art casino product placement, quality food, excellent service, and a constant focus on controlling expenses.
Implement and communicate goals, objectives, and policies and procedures consistent with best business practices and at the direction of the RREA Board of Directors.
Oversee the success of effective company programs that build core competencies and values including the Mission Statement, Team ROCK, and Core Leadership Qualities.
Oversee the preparation and presentation of an annual business plan and budget for approval by the BOD, and implementation by the executive staff, focusing on quarterly benchmarks and measures of success.
Work closely with the RREA Board in negotiating the acquisition of public safety protection costs and services.
Acquisition and maintenance of public liability and property insurance.
Provides leadership in the conceptual and design phases of planned and ongoing property development projects.
Accountability for company performance of the casino including the establishment of short and long term goals, benchmarks and key performance indicators.
Ensure that the casino operations are compliant with DCGC-approved P&P's, internal controls, state gaming rules and direction from the NIGC always employing best practices for the business.
Maintain positive communications with lenders and ensure quarterly bond payments and compliance reporting are accurate and timely and that any loan covenants are complied with.
Develops relationships with local/county administration, serving as a good community partner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carries out management responsibilities consistent with Core Leadership Qualities (CLQ), Team ROCK philosophy and company Mission Statement and in accordance with established policies and procedures, and best practices.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, termination, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
The Chief Executive Officer/General Manager must have:
The tribe may waive the educational experience if the candidate can demonstrate work experience that would show that they meet all other qualifications listed below;
Minimally, ten (10) years of Senior Management experience in the gaming and hospitality industry.
At least three (3) years as a Casino General Manager, preferably in a Native American Casino.
Exceptional leadership skills, sound decision making, time management and organizational skills and be creative, detail-oriented and innovative.
Exceptional communication skills (both written and orally).
Expertise in all aspects of gaming operations including slots, table games, F&B, security, IT, marketing, Human Resources, finance and hotel operations.
Must have a positive and upbeat personality and the ability to work with the public.
An ability to use all resources to develop an annual budget and business plan.
Must be of good integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness.
Must have prior experience with accounting procedures, including asset and liability management as they relate to a for-profit enterprise.
Experience with financial reporting, expense analysis, cost benefit analysis and financial statement interpretation.
Expertise in MS Office including Excel, Word, Power Point and ability to learn new software to improve efficiency and productivity and the ability to use this software to produce professional documents for presentation and analytical purposes.
Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels and with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
Ability to hold subordinates accountable for their goals and actions.
Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgement.
Ability to be calm, professional and tactful in stressful or controversial situations.
Be at least 21 years of age.
Be able to work various and irregular shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation and a drug test and obtain and maintain gaming licenses from the Dry Creek Gaming Commission and the State of California.
EDUCATION:
BA/BS degree is required-preferably in Hospitality and Gaming, Finance, Business, Marketing or related field from an accredited college. A Master's Degree in such fields is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are important to the successful conduct of this position.
Ability to speak Spanish is preferred but not required.
Ability to write accurate, grammatically correct, polished reports and business correspondence.
Must be able to speak with the public in a professional manner.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES,
REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license from the Dry Creek Gaming Commission.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS (depending on position)
Must be able to maneuver around all areas of the casino.
Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to twenty five (25) pounds.
Must have manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, twist and grip items.
Must be able to respond to visual and audio cues.
