- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service both in person and online
- Assess customers needs and provide assistance and information on product features
- Welcome customers to the store and answer their queries
- Maintain in-stock and presentable condition assigned areas
- Remain knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options
- Process POS (point of sale) purchases
- Handle returns of merchandise
- Team up with co-workers to ensure proper customer service
- Comply with inventory control procedures
- Complete all tasks associated with the retail facility
- Composing email responses that are grammatically correct, clear, concise, and reflective of Mercatalyst's community tone and style;
- Following Mercatalyst's policies when deciding on solutions for customers;
- Collaborating with other departments (warehouse operations, merchandising, sourcing, etc.) to communicate issues and coordinate responses;
- Working efficiently and quickly to maintain productivity and reasonable response times;
- Tracking customer issues to help report on patterns and trends, and tagging cases for metric tracking and future report building
- Proven work experience as a Retail Sales associate, Sales representative or similar role
- Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
- Basic Math skills
- Strong writing and grammar skills
- Hands-on experience with POS transactions
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus
- Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner
- Availability to work flexible shifts
- High school or equivalent
- 2+ years' experience in customer service, preferably in internet retail / e-commerce business
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent computer / internet skills
- Experience with spreadsheets, especially Google Docs
- Familiarity with Salesforce and ZenDesk
- Ability to work part-time; averaging 20 hours per week or full time averaging 40 hours per week
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a regular basis
- Ability to use all Store equipment
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 lbs
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies
- Ability to read, write, and speak English

Job Description
Mercatalyst is looking for Sales Associates to work at our Morningsave Outlet store who work well in a team environment and have a curiosity for doing retail in a new way. This is not the average retail opportunity and not for the average retail associate. It is for the individual who is willing to try new processes, experiment with merchandising, take care of customers in person as well as online.
We are looking for a result-driven retail Customer Service Representative who is willing to assist customers both online and in person. Along with online Email Customer Support, this key role will also function as a Sales Associate to be responsible for all retail sales job duties.
We need people who can respond to inquiries and feedback quickly online, problem solve in a professional manner, hunt down where there are issues, keep track of when they're happening, and help narrow in on the causes and solutions.
