    What you will do

    In this role The Laboratory Manager is responsible for overseeing the production of formulation-based products at the Hurlock, MD processing site including extraction, processing, formulation and packaging. This individual is responsible for ensuring employees follow protocols for all Vireo operating procedures, and meets production goals. Reports to General Manager. Manages Laboratory Techs, who perform extraction, processing, distillation, formulation, primary packaging, and final packing activities. This position reports to the General Manager.

    Highlighted Responsibilities
    • Oversee all daily extract product production activities at the Hurlock manufacturing facility to ensure the smooth operation
    • Manage inventory movement to ensure a smooth process stream. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate production accordingly
    • Issue and manage Work Orders for production
    • Assist General Manager in the creation of processing schedules based on supplied demand estimations
    • Assist General Manager in the development of employee work schedules based on need and workload
    • Monitor consumables inventories and re-orders as required to ensure uninterrupted production
    • Train staff in production techniques as needed to ensure SOP's and regulations are followed, and quality standards are met.
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
    • Assist General Manger in the employee review process of processing personnel
    • Enforce and help maintain a successful system of operating procedures for all processing & packaging operations
    • Work closely with Q/A Manager to ensure Vireo's stringent quality criteria is enforced and maintained
    • Able to assist production and Laboratory Tech's in working with advanced processing equipment to ensure smooth operating function, and ensure uninterrupted production
    • Able to lead State Inspectors through routine facility inspections
    • Able to work independently as well as operating as a team
    • Attends safety meetings as required, fulfill safety duties as assigned
    • Perform other functions as necessary to provide an adequate supply of product to meet patient demand.
    • Help maintain a positive and healthy work environment in the processing area
    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in similar field is preferred. 5 years' experience overseeing production activities and inventory management. Experience working with automated production equipment. Managerial experience required. Both mental and manual skills are utilized. Attention to detail is crucial. Ability to pass background check and drug test as required by law

    Physical Demands

    Ability to communicate orally with management and other co-workers is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication may be required. Sitting or standing for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.

    Some heavy lifting may be required. Exertion of up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office and laboratory equipment. Must be comfortable operating and troubleshooting scientific and packaging equipment.

    Good reasoning ability is required to solve a wide range of problems.

    Work Environment

    The job is performed indoors in a traditional laboratory setting. Exposure to chemicals and laboratory agents is expected. Protective safety clothing, goggles, gloves, facemasks, or hat are required as needed. Activities include extended periods of sitting or standing.
