- Perform studies relevant to new treatments for sickle cell anemia (SCD). This will include:
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field and four years of research experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
- Experience of studies with SCD.
- Excellent laboratory skill set.
- Technical expertise with regard to drug discovery and advancement.
- MS or PhD with 3-5 years of post-graduate laboratory benchwork experience.
- Commitment to helping people with SCD.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
1) screening smaller molecules for anti-sickling activity using an innovative assay system developed by our laboratory.
2) testing oxygen dissociation, cytotoxicity, and analytic studies of candidate molecules for treatment of SCD
3) performing ectodeformability and other highly cutting edge methodologies for evaluating new SCD drugs
4) assist with treatment of SCD mice using compounds identified through this project
5) participate in manuscript and grant writing, data analysis and presentation, work with FDA and other groups to advance the overall SCD research program.
