About the Position:
As a Registered/Certified Substance Abuse Counselor I, you will support the community by delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services provided in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDT).
This is a Non-Exempt position. Hourly wage: $21 - $24 (DOE)
What You Will Do:
+ Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
+ Effectively implement scheduled program curriculum. Leads and participates in face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and other therapeutic processes.
+ Engage participants daily, reinforce group rules and expectation for participation and completion.
+ Works directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate participants about supportive networks as they return to the community.
+ Review treatment plans, evaluate and record treatment progress, records visible changes in appearance, behavior and demeanor of program participants.
+ Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential participant records. Evaluates and documents the progress of participants assigned to their groups.
+ Completes all delivery documentation requirements. Summarizes participants background, treatment plan, and recovery process outcomes.
+ Prepares accurate, concise, informative reports, records and plans that are consistent with Amity standards, and complies with applicable clinical and administrative rules.
+ Liaise with transition/reentry staff, plans and prepares transitional documents as directed by CDCR for continued community program activities.
+ Works collaboratively with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS and institution staff. Supports and collaborates co-faculty, including but not limited to Supervisors, Directors and Regional Directors.
+ Participate in monthly, block, cross-training, curriculum training, technical assistance training, or other training as appropriate.
+ Other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
+ Minimum 6 months of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor.
+ Current AOD Certification with organization recognized by the DHCS OR Registration with BBS or AOD Certifying body, depending on education level.
+ Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical and social effects of drug abuse.
+ Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
+ Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS (preferred).
+ Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants.
+ Demonstrate ethical behavior in order to maintain professional standards and safeguard the participants.
+ Protect and maintain program participants health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.
