    Description

    Position Summary:

    The Youth Art Therapy Bereavement Facilitator is responsible for assisting with the development, in collaboration with the Youth Art Therapy Bereavement Group Coordinator, a viable Youth Bereavement Group work program as an integrated element of the Bereavement component of the Hunterdon Hospice organization. Addresses with children and parents in a support group context, the inter-related psychosocial, emotional, and environmental dynamics which constitute the normal mourning process and grief work following a death in one's family system.

    Primary Position Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates children or parent support group within the program context
  • Maintains documentation associated with group participation
  • Connects families to community resources when appropriate
  • Work Contact Group

  • Hunterdon Hospice Interdisciplinary Team, Hunterdon Hospice families, Families in the community who have experienced loss and community schools and agencies
  • Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to: Hunterdon Hospice Director
  • Supervises: Staff and Volunteers of the Youth Art Bereavement Group
  • Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Required: Associate's Degree Certificate and/or Advanced Specialized or Technical Training in Children's Bereavement Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Master's Degree in Social Work, Nursing, Counseling or related field
  • Minimum Years of Experience:

  • Required: Two to three years professional experience preferably with loss/grief issues and /or terminally ill patients

  • Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Required: Professional education in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, creative Arts Therapy, or affiliated Masters program. Experience and skill in group work process.
