    Job Summary:
    Responsible for senior-level management, design, and integration of the District's identity, messaging, and data interoperability systems. The System Integration Engineer ensures that users, devices, and applications remain securely connected across platforms through automation, synchronization, and effective data management.
    This position focuses on the systems that tie the district's technology environment together, including Active Directory, Azure/Entra ID, Exchange Online, and automated account provisioning between Infinite Campus, OneSync, and ClassLink. The engineer provides advanced technical support for authentication, directory services, and system integrations while maintaining compliance with security and data privacy standards. The System Integration Engineer works closely with Network Engineers, the Technology Integration Coordinator, and IT Support teams to maintain seamless access, reliability, and interoperability. This position participates in the department's on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot:
      • Active Directory, Azure/Entra ID, and Exchange Online.
      • Email filtering and security gateways integrated with district messaging systems.
      • Automation and synchronization platforms such as OneSync, Roster Server, and ClassLink.
      • Applications and databases requiring directory or roster-based access control.
    • Design, install, and configure systems and applications that sustain the District network:
      • Build and manage PowerShell and SQL scripts to automate provisioning, data transfers, and system synchronization.
      • Configure and optimize integration platforms connecting the Student Information System (Infinite Campus) with instructional and operational applications.
      • Maintain consistent naming conventions, permissions, and schema mapping across systems.
      • Collaborate with the Network Engineers to ensure stable infrastructure for authentication, file services, and access management.
    • Provide Tier 3 technical support for authentication, data synchronization, and account-related issues escalated from Network Administrators or IT Support Technicians.
      • Diagnose and resolve directory synchronization, email routing, or data mismatch errors.
      • Support continuity of user access to enterprise systems through account restoration and policy management.
    • Train and provide guidance to designated school representatives on Student Information System (SIS) and Library systems. Develop and teach in-service classes for District personnel.
      • Develop and deliver in-service classes and training materials for district personnel.
      • Collaborate with the Technology Integration Coordinator to ensure consistent use and support of instructional applications linked to these systems.
    • Develop and maintain continuity, documentation, and on-call readiness:
      • Participate in the department's on-call rotation and respond to after-hours or weekend emergencies affecting authentication or email systems.
      • Maintain current documentation for account lifecycle automation, integration diagrams, and recovery procedures.
      • Cross-train with other engineers to ensure operational coverage and continuity.
    • Ensure compliance and security of integration systems:
      • Follow data privacy and access control standards consistent with federal, state, and district policies.
      • Maintain least-privilege permissions and implement strong authentication measures.
      • Participate in audits and assessments related to system interoperability and security controls.
    • Research, assess, and recommend new technologies, tools, and strategies that improve automation efficiency, security, and interoperability across platforms.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Education, Training and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or information systems.
    • Three to five years of experience in directory administration, database design, or systems integration, including experience with Transact-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
    • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Azure/Entra ID, Exchange Online, and Infinite Campus is preferred.
    • Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), Azure Administrator, or equivalent certification preferred.
    • Must demonstrate strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex identity and interoperability issues.
    • A thorough understanding of directory services, authentication systems, and messaging environments including Active Directory, Azure/Entra ID, Exchange Online, and email filtering is essential.
    • Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell and SQL is required, along with knowledge of rostering platforms such as OneSync, Roster Server, and ClassLink.
    • Familiarity with networking fundamentals, data security, and cloud-based management tools, as well as the ability to maintain accurate documentation and handle confidential information responsibly.
    • Must be able to balance multiple priorities, work effectively under pressure, and promote and follow all Board of Education, Superintendent, and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Valid Colorado driver's license required.
    • Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
