    Description

    Performs a variety of management and administrative duties which may include supervising office staff and coordinating and overseeing activities of the district office staff.
    Essential Duties & Responsibilities
    • Manage constituent communications and constituent casework
    • Direct general management of the district office and district office staff, including assisting in developing and implementing office policies & procedures to ensure effective office operations
    • Maintain and order inventory of district office supplies and equipment
    • Ensure office equipment is operating correctly and arranges for repair of the equipment as necessary
    • Assign work to other staff accordingly
    • Maintain personnel files for district office staff
    • Review and plan for training needs of district staff personnel; Evaluate district office staff
    • May be required to represent the office and Legislator in meetings or other activities in and around the district, as required and assigned
    • Assist with interviewing and hiring staff members
    • Assist with training of new staff members
    • Approve/disapprove staff leave requests
    • Assist with performance appraisals for subordinate staff
    • Address complaints, resolve problems when possible and acts as first line in grievance resolution
    • Maintain accurate leave records and submit information to Human Resources
    • Perform any other legislative work-related duties as assigned.
    Minimum Qualifications

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from accredited four-year college or university; and two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    LANGUAGE SKILLS
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Members, co-workers, and the general public. Ability to detect and correct grammatical errors.
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    REASONING ABILITY
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    COMPUTER SKILLS
    Ability to complete tasks in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Legislative Data Processing Center legislative software applications on a personal computer.
    MENTAL ABILITIES
    Ability to get along with others and work effectively as a team player. Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time. Ability to perform under strict deadlines.
