    Job Function:

    Partners with the Training team to develop the training system for Paper Machine controls to ensure all team members are trained to their full potential, in keeping with the Paper Machine Controls skills matrix.

    Ensures that the training system fully supports the Safety, quality, maintenance and housekeeping goals and long-term vision for the department.

    Is fully capable of performing all Paper Machine Controls functions. Is a recognized leader in the papermaking maintenance department, with a demonstrated passion for training and developing team members. Specifies, designs, and implements complex controls systems and software programming on production equipment and associated machinery.


    Duties and Responsibilities:


    Shares electrical/controls knowledge and techniques; coordinates and leads training for controls team on all controls/electrical functions of the paper machinesWorks with the paper machine controls and engineering teams to maintain and develop the controls training system, and ensure that team and individual training plans are developed and maintained to fully support the goals of the businessIdentifies potentially dangerous electrical hazards and takes immediate corrective action.

    Possesses intermediate knowledge in OSHA and National Electrical Code by teaching othersProvides extensive support during machine installations and upgrades including interfacing auxiliary equipment, identifying and correcting errors in configuration, calibration, and wiring, and ensuring that vendors and contractors are meeting our needs and expectations.

    Leads/supports internal Project and Process Engineers, Maintenance & Production personnel, OEMs, vendors, and contractors to design, install, interface, start up new equipment and process controls including:

    electrical component selection and approval, electrical design approval, software assessments & modifications, machine acceptance testing and problem identification and resolution.

    Will supervise, assign work, provide performance monitoring and reviews, and provide daily priority setting for Controls Technicians.
    Assists with troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning electrical power systems and controls systems.


    Experience and Education Required:
    Can read and understand both P&ID's and technical manualsHas demonstrated excellent data analyzing, troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsHas demonstrated the ability to think systematically and to transfer knowledge to othersExcellent communication skills, both oral and written and able to work in a team environmentIs recognized as a self-starter by the teamsGood computer skills needed, (E-mail, Word, Excel, etc.)

    Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or:

    Two to Five years experience as a Controls Engineer in Paper Manufacturing or similar manufacturing experience or:Certification or Associates degree in controls/electrical components, engineering or related field with experience as a controls technician or Controls Engineer I within the Paper DepartmentAdvanced knowledge of Siemens PCS7 and Step 7 is a plus.

    Advanced knowledge of Honeywell DaVinci QCS systems is a plus.
    Advanced knowledge of networking and fieldbus is a plus.
    Advanced knowledge of maintenance work order systems.
    Advanced knowledge of various types of pressure, flow, temperature, consistency instrumentation and instrument calibration.
