    Inpatient Medical Director

    Summary:

    The Inpatient Medical Director plays a pivotalrole in overseeing and directing the activities and functions of the inpatientmedical staff, including physicians and advanced practice providers. Thisposition requires a licensed physician with certification in Internal Medicineby the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine. Theideal candidate must have significant experience providing addiction and mentalhealth services across diverse treatment settings.

    Essential Job Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Oversee all aspects of medical care, directing the inpatient medical staff.
    • Supervise and monitor staff physicians and advanced practice providers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
    • Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and protocols related to medical issues impacting addiction treatment.
    • Educate the medical and clinical staff through case reviews, quality improvement assessments, and in-service meetings.
    • Provide direct clinical services in alignment with approved clinical privileges, including off-hours coverage when necessary.
    • Collaborate with managed care organizations and other health professionals to optimize the delivery of quality care.
    • Participate actively on the Medical Committee and other relevant committees as assigned by the President/CEO.
    • Represent within the medical community, advocating for the organization's interests
    • Perform any other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Knowledge, Experience, and SkillsRequired:

    The following requirements represent theknowledge, skills, and abilities essential for the role:

    Education:

    • Medical degree, Ph.D., or a comparable degree.

    Experience :

    • Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience clinically administering a multi-site addiction treatment program. This experience should encompass direct patient care and progressively increasing supervisory responsibility.

    Skills:

    • Understanding and working knowledge of current addiction clinical concepts and practices.
    • Demonstrate the ability to work with, support, and supervise a multidisciplinary treatment team in medical needs, infection control, and overall patient care.
    • Showcase proficiency in coordinating addiction medical services across a continuum of clinical care.

    Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

    • A physician licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, board-certified in Internal Medicine/Family Medicine, or board-eligible. If board-eligible, certification must be obtained within three years of the hire date.
