Job summary
The Senior Director, State Government Affairs will represent Fresenius Medical Care-North America and its affiliate companies in all public policy legislative and political matters before state governments in a defined regionIdentifies and analyzes proposed legislative and regulatory policy that present significant implications to FMCNA's patients employees and operations Works to highlight FMCNA policy positions and raise the visibility of FMCNA initiatives with key external audiences Responsible for educating lawmakers policymakers and key decision makers on issues and positions which improve the quality of access to care for our patients This position will be a home office-based role with up to 50% travel requirements depending on coverage states external factors
Responsibilities
- Monitors secures timely information regarding legislative regulatory proposals identifies evaluates strategic business issues across businesses Effectively manages contract lobbyists consultants Engage written comments policy issue papers bill summaries analyses testimony talking points presentations meetings synopses assigned area Develop strong trusted working relationships elected appointed career officials Enable effective advocacy public policy vision service our patients Developing strong relationships ESRD colleagues member companies consultants especially state level Collaborating communication teams Attend local conferences out-of-state Assist various projects assigned Other duties as assigned Additional responsibilities may include focus one or more departments locations see applicable addendum department location specific functions
Skills required:
- A minimum 6 years related experience state government affairs direct government experience A minimum 4 years direct California Legislature Governor Administration preferred Knowledge healthcare policy Knowledge state legislative regulatory processes Sophisticated/strategic thinking determine best influence decision/policy makers Demonstrated ability meeting objectives reacting growing changing internal external environment Superior facilitation presentation organisational verbal written skills demonstrated ability work independently Analytical planning project management skills prioritise shift multiple issues projects compromising results Fresenius Medical Care maintains drug-free workplace federal state laws EO disability/veterans
